Introduction

To get Netscape to work with GhostSurf, you must tell it to send its information through GhostSurf (rather than directly to the Internet). To accomplish this, you need to tell Netscape to use GhostSurf as a "proxy;" that is, GhostSurf works as an agent for Netscape, forwarding all its requests to the Internet and retrieving the pages and images it needs.

The subsequent section shows you how to tell Netscape to use GhostSurf as a proxy.

Setting the Proxy

The first step is to open Netscape's "Preferences" window. To do this, go to the Edit menu (in Netscape) and choose "Preferences..." as shown. You will see the window pictured below.

In the "Category" tree on the left side of the window, select "Proxies" in the "Advanced" item. Select the "Manual proxy configuration" item on the right as shown; the "View" button will then become active. Click on the view button. You'll see the "Manual Proxy Configuration" window appear.

In this window, on the first line (HTTP), type in "127.0.0.1" (as shown) in the "Address" column, and type in "7212" into the port column. This tells Netscape to use GhostSurf (which has address 127.0.0.1, port 7212) for HTTP requests (that is, web information). You don't need to fill in any of the other items in the window.

When you're done, click on the "OK" button in this window and all the other windows below to save the new GhostSurf settings in Netscape. Now you're ready to use Netscape with GhostSurf!
